The Quality Assurance Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care by developing, implementing, and evaluating quality assurance and performance improvement programs. This role involves auditing clinical documentation, monitoring compliance with regulatory standards, identifying areas for improvement, and working collaboratively with nursing and medical staff to implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Build out audit tools to align with training and expectations of different visit types and workflows.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the quality of patient care through chart audits, data collection, and quality metrics.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission).
- Analyze trends in patient care and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and leadership to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Review and investigate incident reports, adverse events, and patient complaints.
- Provide education and training to staff on quality standards, documentation practices, and compliance.
- Prepare reports and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings.
- Practice as a remote registered nurse across multiple teams and visit types. This role is expected to be approximately 50% of the time; the proportion of work may change based on departmental needs.
- Leverage clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills to promote health and wellness across multiple partners and patient settings.
- Utilize nursing expertise to assess, triage, and provide patient care through telehealth and virtual platforms.
- Look for areas of improvement and relay back to nursing leadership.
- Update audit tools in accordance with process and protocol changes.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and clinical standards.

- Proficient in Google Workspace and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a quality assurance or clinical auditing role preferred.
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
