Location: Raleigh + surrounding Triangle
Schedule: Part-time (flexible weekdays; occasional Saturdays)
Compensation: $20–$25/hr (based on experience and quality)
Equipment: Must provide your own tools, ladders, and reliable transportation
About Surv Raleigh
Surv Raleigh is a mission-driven home-services team helping neighbors "age in place" and keep their homes in great shape. We're growing our handyman and painting division and looking for a seasoned Lead Painter who can deliver clean, professional results and mentor helpers when needed.
What You'll Do
- Lead interior/exterior residential repaint projects from prep to punch list
- Perform surface prep: masking, scraping, sanding, caulking, patching, priming
- Apply finishes: brush, roll, and light spray work (HVLP/Airless) as appropriate
- Repair minor drywall and trim, spot prime stains, and color-match touchups
- Set up and safely work from ladders (extension and step) and basic staging
- Walk clients through scope, provide progress updates, and ensure site cleanliness
- Create simple material takeoffs; pick up paint/sundries as needed (reimbursable)
- Maintain job quality, timelines, and a neat, respectful customer experience
What It Takes (Requirements)
- 8–10+ years professional residential painting experience (lead/foreman level)
- You own a pro-grade paint tool kit (brushes/rollers, drop cloths, sanders, caulk gun, scraper, masking tools, etc.) and ladders (step + extension)
- Reliable transportation suitable for hauling ladders and materials
- Strong knowledge of coatings, primers, sheens, proper prep, and cure times
- Comfortable working on occupied homes; excellent communication and cleanup habits
- Can lift 50 lbs and work from ladders up to typical second-story heights
- Smartphone proficiency for photos, checklists, and job updates
- Authorization to work in the U.S.; background check may be required
Nice-to-Haves
- Light carpentry (trim/rot repair), drywall finishing, and basic spray skills
- Color consultation experience and paint store relationships
- OSHA/ladder-safety training; EPA RRP a plus (for renovation work)
