Role and Responsibilities:

Drives truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials, such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, or bituminous paving materials: Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents. May load truck by hand or by operating mechanical loader. May be designated according to type of material hauled as Coal Hauler; Dust-Truck Driver; Mud Trucker. May be designated according to type of equipment driven for off-highway projects as Dump-Truck Driver, Off-Highway. Qualified candidate possess a current and valid Class A or Class B with Air Brake endorsement driver's license. Air brakes required and experience in operating manual transmissions.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

While not all inclusive, the following is a list of tasks to be performed and or coordinated:

  1. Attend regularly scheduled work days.

  2. Be on time and prepared for work every day with proper PPE.

  3. Have appropriate licenses and certifications to operate dump truck.

  4. Complete a pre-trip inspection before operating dump truck. Check all fluids/tires/lights, etc. listed on pre-trip form.

  5. Develop JSA for job.

a. Participate in developing JSA on job sites when working on locations with crews and help identify hazards on job site (overhead powerlines, equipment, placement of personnel on location, etc.).

b. Participate in safe work, safety audits & report near hits.

c. Be able to understand oral and written instructions.

d. Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres.

  1. Gather appropriate job permits, ensure they filled out correctly and have the appropriate information and signatures for the specific job.

  2. Perform tasks assigned by Working Foreman or General Foreman. Such as operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

  3. Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers. Test for H2S or oxygen deficient atmospheres.

  4. Perform monthly self audit to ensure compliance.

  5. Follow all KS Industries safety policies, and procedures. Develop a general knowledge of KSI SOP's.

  6. Follow all KSI and Customer policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effectively operate dump truck in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner
  • Knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out process
  • Ability to read and write

Working Conditions:

The locations vary from site to site however, the majority of the work is construction based working in the fields. The walking and working surfaces vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes, to hillsides and mountainsides. Walking and working on various terrain and in various soil conditions from hard dirt or rocky surfaces to frozen, snowy, wet, and slippery conditions. Most of the work will be subjected to the ambient weather and outdoor conditions. Some equipment may be equipped with an enclosed cab that has air conditioning and heating systems. Some are equipped with open cabs.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:

Employee will be working with various tools and equipment used in the oil and gas energy sector including; pipe and hand wrenches, hammers, shovels, and gas monitors.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid drivers license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI's insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one's body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as:

  • Sitting
  • Standing
  • Squatting
  • Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another
  • Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder. Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,). Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)

Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions). Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing. Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task.
