Overview:
Our summer day camp program is led by two Co-Camp Managers who work in close partnership with one another and the Executive Director to oversee all aspects of summer camp. These seasonal leadership roles are designed to provide comprehensive coverage, ensure smooth daily operations, and foster a supportive, joyful environment for staff and campers. Each Co-Summer Camp Manager holds distinct areas of focus but shares leadership responsibilities and decision-making power to uphold the summer camp's values and vision.

Summer Camp runs from June to August, with enrollment open in January. Therefore, this position supports the enrollment process, hiring of seasonal staff, organizational administration, including the management of training week, and working in partnership with their Co-Manager to ensure the planning and execution of a fun and successful summer camp experience.

Timeframe: January – August, with the year-round possibility

Duties

Together, the Co-Summer Camp Managers will:

● Carry and uphold the shared vision and values of camp

● Co-lead seasonal staff training and orientation

● Maintain a supportive, organized, and joyful camp culture

● Communicate regularly with the Executive Director and Leadership Team

● Act as primary staff and camper support throughout the summer

● Provide real-time problem solving and on-the-ground leadership

● Plan and execute daily huddles with all staff and leads

● Hold full understanding and oversight of daily program flows and curriculum implementation

● Ensure staff upholds the expectations outlined in the training manual

● Learn to work in and navigate Playground (our registration platform) to support camp administration, including registration, scheduling, and communication with families and staff

Co-Manager – Operations

This role centers on the logistics and operational flow of camp, ensuring a well-supported, efficient, and joyful environment by actively engaging with staff, families, and campers throughout the summer.

HR / Staff Support

● Staff training and onboarding

● HR support in collaboration with the Admin Coordinator and Executive Director

● Staff scheduling and shift coordination

● Behavior support for campers and parents

● Providing staff guidance on behavioral issues in alignment with the training manual

● Ensure staff uphold expectations in the training manual

Communications

● Physically present to welcome campers and families during drop off and pick up

● Oversight of communication flow with staff and families

● Parent communications, including welcome, reminder, and closing emails and texts

● Ongoing operational updates and reminders to staff via weekly overview email

Program Operations

● Oversight of daily program operations — ensuring program quality, schedule flow, and theme implementation

● Overseeing and updating program binders and materials for each session with administration support

Facilities & Supplies

● Coordination with farm and facilities staff before each session to ensure safety and program quality

● Ordering and organizing program supplies for each session in coordination with the Co-Manager and Admin Coordinator

Required Knowledge & Skills

● 2+ years of experience in educational program management, staff supervision, nonprofit work environments and mentorship.

● BA in Education or related field and/or ECE 12 to 18 credits and ongoing professional development in ECE and nature based education.

● Previous experience in education, program scheduling, program evaluation, partnership building, and database entry.

● Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills.

● Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member.

● Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

● Enthusiasm for working in a ranch environment with nontraditional offices.

Working Conditions

● Ability to work in all weather elements. Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.

● Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

● Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, and keeping electronic records.

● Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Compensation

● Based on experience. $1,000 to $1,250 per week. Includes camp tuition for up to 2 relatives. This benefit alone is worth up to $10,000.
