Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will collaborate with licensed occupational therapists to deliver personalized therapy services that promote independence and functional skills. You will work in diverse environments including homes, clinics, and outpatient settings, helping children achieve their full potential through engaging and effective interventions.
Duties
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and feeding to support independence in children.
- Implement individualized care plans developed by occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met.
- Support therapy sessions across various settings including home health, outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and acute care units.
- Utilize your knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to accurately document progress and communicate effectively with team members.
- Help develop therapeutic activities tailored to pediatric populations with diverse needs such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and occupational health cases.
- Monitor patient responses during therapy sessions and report observations to supervising therapists for ongoing plan adjustments.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols during patient care activities.
Experience
- Previous experience working in inpatient or outpatient settings within clinics or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and support patients in home health or acute care environments.
- Familiarity with medical imaging terminology and its relevance to occupational therapy is a plus.
- Experience working with pediatric populations or geriatrics enhances your ability to connect with diverse patients.
- Knowledge of care planning processes and the ability to implement therapeutic interventions effectively.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
- Prior involvement in patient care within outpatient or clinic settings will help you excel in this role.
