Description
The Development Engagement Manager is the primary owner of the client relationship and the technical delivery of our projects. This role sits at the intersection of client partnership, product thinking, and engineering leadership- ensuring that what we build is aligned, feasible, and delivered with excellence.
You will serve as the main point of accountability between clients and development teams, translating business needs into clear technical direction, guiding architectural decisions, and maintaining momentum from concept through delivery.
In this role, you will work in close partnership with one of Blue Alba's largest strategic clients and collaborate directly with a company founder, giving you meaningful influence over both client outcomes and firm-wide technical direction.
Location
Candidates must be based in the New York tri-state area, as this role requires regular on-site engagement with clients in NYC (approximately two days per week). The remainder of the role operates in a hybrid model.
Core Responsibilities
Client & Stakeholder Leadership
- Own the technical relationship with clients; serve as their primary delivery partner.
- Translate business objectives into clear, actionable technical direction.
- Manage expectations around scope, timelines, and tradeoffs with transparency.
- Present solutions and decisions in business-relevant terms.
- Serve as day-to-day delivery lead for one of the firm's largest client relationships.
- Partner closely with a founder to shape technical strategy, delivery approach, and client engagement model.
- Act as a trusted extension of senior leadership in high-stakes client conversations.
Technical & Delivery Leadership
- Lead system design and architectural decisions for complex applications.
- Guide proof-of-concepts and unblock critical technical challenges.
- Maintain technical
hands-on
involvement in key areas when needed.
- Champion spec-first development and strong documentation practices.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and production-ready.
Product & Execution
- Partner with UX and product stakeholders to shape features and roadmaps.
- Balance near-term delivery with long-term technical health.
- Drive quality, usability, and operational excellence in everything shipped.
Required Qualifications
Technical
- Strong full-stack experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, ReactJS, NodeJS).
- Proven track record in system design, integrations, and API architecture.
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives from concept to production.
- Comfort applying AI capabilities in real-world product workflows.
- Experience delivering mobile-enabled solutions (native or cross-platform) and understanding their impact on system architecture and user experience.
Leadership & Communication
- Experience leading small to mid-sized engineering teams.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong ownership mindset with high standards for clarity, execution, and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial services or enterprise systems experience.
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern DevOps practices.
- Microservices and distributed systems experience.
- Conversational Spanish is a plus.
