Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Engineering Strategy & Execution: Set a unified strategy across SRE, platform, and application teams; define measurable outcomes (reliability, feature throughput, cost/performance) and run operating cadences (QBRs, scorecards, postmortems).
- Product & Customer-Centric Thinking: Aligns technical priorities with customer needs and understands the business impact of engineering decisions.
- Cloud, Infrastructure & FinOps: Lead cloud and hybrid architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP) for scalability and resilience; implement cost governance (FinOps), capacity planning, and performance optimization with transparent unit economics.
- SRE & Production Excellence: Establish SLIs/SLOs/error budgets, on-call practices, incident response, and blameless postmortems; mature observability (metrics/logs/traces/RUM) and progressive delivery (canary/blue‑green/feature flags).
- Platform Engineering & Developer Enablement: Build an Internal Developer Platform with paved roads (templates, guardrails, self‑service CI/CD, artifact management, secrets); treat shared services as products with clear SLAs and reliability targets.
- Application Development (Web + Data/AI): Guide architecture and delivery of secure, scalable web apps leveraging data platforms and ML/AI; integrate model lifecycle (feature stores, registries, monitoring for drift/bias) with safe rollouts.
- Enterprise Architecture & Integration: Define reference architectures and integration patterns (APIs, event‑driven, streaming, data pipelines) to enable interoperability; govern contracts, versioning, and change management.
- Quality Engineering & Test Automation: Champion automated testing strategies across unit, integration, performance, and security layers; implement frameworks for continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines and ensure high coverage.
- Security, Privacy & Compliance: Embed security‑by‑design across SDLC and enforce data governance and privacy (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR/CCPA) with auditability and policy‑as‑code.
- Organization, Talent & Executive Leadership: Structure and scale distributed teams; establish career frameworks and succession planning; manage budgets and vendor partnerships; communicate strategy and outcomes to executives and external forums.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- SRE & Reliability Engineering: Experienced in implementing SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and incident management; can guide observability strategies and lead critical postmortems when necessary.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture: Deep understanding of AWS/Azure/GCP and hybrid architectures; able to review designs for scalability, resilience, and cost optimization, and validate IaC patterns.
- Platform Engineering & CI/CD: Proven track record building internal developer platforms and automated pipelines; can coach teams on GitOps, progressive delivery, and enforce security/compliance guardrails.
- Application Development & Architecture: Strong background in modern web frameworks (React, TypeScript) and service architectures (microservices, APIs); can mentor on design patterns and intervene in critical reviews.
- Data & AI Integration: Hands-on experience with data platforms and MLOps; able to guide model deployment strategies, monitoring for drift/bias, and ensure responsible AI practices.
- Quality Engineering & Test Automation: Skilled in establishing automated testing strategies across unit, integration, performance, and security; can step in to optimize frameworks and coverage in CI/CD pipelines.
- Security & Compliance by Design: Expertise in embedding security controls and ensuring compliance with corporate security guidelines and policies; can lead risk reviews and remediation efforts.
- Enterprise Architecture & Integration: Experienced in API design, event-driven systems, and data pipelines; can guide integration strategies and resolve cross-team architectural challenges.
- Leadership & Delivery at Scale: Adept at roadmapping, OKRs, and portfolio management; can coach managers on balancing reliability, speed, and cost, and step in for executive-level communication or vendor negotiations.
