Job Description

Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental compliance, sustainability programs, and strategies at our client's R&D Center in the Greater DC area. Partner with internal stakeholders to address environmental opportunities and gather information for environmental reports. Support waste reduction initiatives and other programs at the site.

Major Responsibilities

Gather and aggregate data/information for environmental compliance and sustainability reports to support company performance reporting, benchmarking and regulatory requirements.

Drive continuous improvement of the environmental programs and assist in compliance and sustainability reviews of new projects.

Work effectively to manage & deliver projects in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between SHE, Site Operations (Facilities, Engineering, Lab Operations, Workplace Services).

Be a contributing member on the cross-functional Energy and Resources Management Team guiding the team towards efficient use of natural resources.

Analyze historical event data, leading indicators, and in-field observations and provide recommendations based upon analysis.

Develop and update environmental procedures. Develop, update and facilitate environmental training programs.

Assist with implementation of ISO14001 Environmental Management Program.

Perform environmental audits and inspections, including identification of non-compliance, non-conformities and corrective actions.

Complete environmental permit applications, regulatory reports & voluntary award applications to local, state and federal regulatory agencies or 3rd party entities

Oversee wastewater sampling, including review reports from wastewater contractor to ensure compliance with permit requirements.

Submit regulatory reports & voluntary award applications to county, city, state, or 3rd party entities

Experience

Work effectively on multiple projects at once and respond to rapidly changing demands.

Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and industry Environmental regulations and sustainability trends.

Some prior experience and/or knowledge of building systems: boilers, air handling units, cooling towers, chillers, water purification equipment.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, within all levels of the organization.

Exercise judgment while being insightful, logical and methodical.

Microsoft Office (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) experience preferred.

Three or more years of applicable work experience

Educational Requirement

A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or related STEM program(s) required.

4 or more years of environmental compliance experience in consulting, biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or similar industries.
