Role Description
This full-time, on-site Direct Support Professional role is located in Highland Mills, NY. Responsibilities include supporting individuals with special needs in their daily activities, fostering independence, and promoting community engagement. You will assist with personal care, education, skill-building, recreational activities, and household management tasks. This role requires collaboration with team members to implement care plans and ensure a safe, supportive environment for individuals.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effectively interacting with individuals, families, and teammates
- Understanding of person-centered care and the ability to encourage independence and promote inclusion
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience or knowledge in offering support for personal care, life skills, and community integration
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with individuals with various abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional training or certification in a related field is a plus
- Ability to pass a background check and hold a valid driver's license (required for transportation-related responsibilities)
- Prior experience in caregiving, education, or working with individuals with special needs is preferred
