Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure their comfort and dignity.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any concerns promptly.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Observe and document changes in residents' conditions or behaviors; communicate updates to healthcare professionals or family members as appropriate.
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers.
Skills
- Proven experience in home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer's and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and experience in medication administration are highly valued.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts while maintaining resident safety.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams, residents, and families.
- Demonstrated ability to follow care plans meticulously while adapting to individual needs.
