Job Title: Baking & Barista Drivers

Reports To: Shift Manager, General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $16.27 – $ Tips; Bilingual Speakers $ $ Tips

Summary

The Driver is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service through the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of LaMar's Donuts & Coffee products, while also supporting in-store beverage preparation, early-morning baking and production tasks, and general bakery operations. This position combines delivery duties with barista tasks and baking responsibilities. A Driver must demonstrate exceptional hospitality, punctuality, product knowledge, and operational support across multiple areas of the business, when not driving or delivering.

English or bilingual proficiency is required for all customer-facing, barista, and front-of-house responsibilities performed after 3:00 AM. English proficiency is not required for early-morning baking and production responsibilities performed before 3:00 AM.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Customer Service & Barista Responsibilities (From 3:00 AM – End of Business, depending on availability)

  1. Driver welcomes customers by determining their interests and needs; takes and rings up orders.

  2. Driver educates customers by explaining the menu and answering questions.

  3. Driver prepares and sells coffee and espresso beverages following prescribed recipes.

  4. Driver explain differences in coffee beans, brewing methods, and equipment.

  5. Driver maintains coffee inventories by replenishing beans, equipment, supplies, and donuts for the coffee bar.

  6. Driver keeps equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and notifying management of repairs needed.

  7. Driver enhances store reputation by accepting ownership for tasks and suggesting improvements.

  8. Driver maintains a safe and healthy work environment through proper sanitation practices.

Delivery & Transportation Responsibilities
  1. Driver accepts and fulfills delivery requests through LaMar's or partner delivery platforms.

  2. Driver picks up customer orders promptly and verifies order accuracy.

  3. Driver ensures all beverages and pastries are properly packaged and secured for transport.

  4. Driver delivers products efficiently while upholding LaMar's hospitality standards.

  5. Driver communicates professionally with customers and store teams.

  6. Driver follows all traffic and safety regulations; always maintains professionalism.

  7. Driver maintains a clean, organized vehicle and a polished personal appearance.

  8. Driver loads and unloads delivery vehicles, including lifting and arranging merchandise.

  9. Driver operates vehicles safely and courteously.

  10. Driver prepares customer orders from picking tickets, pulls merchandise from stock, and moves heavy loads using hand trucks when needed.

Baking & Production Responsibilities (As early as 6:00 PM the day prior and through the next business day, up until 3:00 AM)

  1. Driver prepares donuts and specialty pastries, including icings and frostings, according to established recipes.

  2. Driver takes appropriate temperatures of dry and wet ingredients.

  3. Driver reviews production schedules to determine items needed for daily operations.

  4. Driver receives ingredients and supplies needed for production.

  5. Driver cuts, weighs, molds, proofs, fries, and decorates donuts and specialty pastries as required.

  6. Driver applies toppings and finishings on pastries.

  7. Driver shapes dough by hand or using rollers, cutters, or other equipment.

  8. Driver stocks display counters and assists with product finishing before store opening.

  9. Driver retrieves products from warehouse areas and stocks shelves.

  10. Driver ensures product quality during and after preparation; reports issues to management.

  11. Driver detects and reports defective supplies, spoiled product, equipment issues, or unusual conditions.

  12. Driver completes production sheets and other required records accurately.

Operational & Store Support Responsibilities

  1. Driver maintains a neat, orderly, and sanitized work area at all times.

  2. Driver improves quality and efficiency by studying, evaluating, and recommending process improvements.

  3. Driver updates job knowledge through training and professional development.

  4. Driver clocks in on time and adheres to all company policies and safety procedures.

  5. Driver performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Language Ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, and another language for all duties performed after 3:00 AM.
  • English proficiency not required for baking/production duties before 3:00 AM.
  • Bilingual applicants (English + another language) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions for production and operational tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with management, team members, and customers as needed.
Reasoning Ability

Drivers' ability to define problems, analyze situations, and determine appropriate solutions.

Work Environment

The drivers work environment includes kitchen, retail, and delivery settings. Noise level is moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Physical Demands
  • Driver is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Drivers must be able to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in accordance with OSHA's safelifting and materialhandling guidelines.
  • Driver vision requirements include peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
