This position is for you if:

• You have 5+ years experience in Logistics and Freight management or other related fields.
• Warehouse/Inventory Control/Materials experience in an agricultural environment a plus.
• You have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and handle adverse and urgent situations with rapid changes in priorities.
• You have strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and negotiation skills.
• You have a strong PC background with working knowledge of databases and spreadsheets.
• You are confident, enthusiastic, have strong communication and delegating skills, and are able to motivate a team.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Join our team

As the Logistics Manager, you will work closely with our East Coast Division Manager—who brings more than 30 years of experience with Speedling—the logistics team, and the Customer Service department. You will oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, packaging activities, and the daily functions of the Customer Service team for the East Coast nurseries.

In this role, you will ensure that all department activities are carried out efficiently and support the timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. You will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with all safety policies and regulations.

Additional responsibilities include identifying cost-saving opportunities such as freight consolidation, managing Shipping and Receiving with attention to timely raw-material intake, coordinating the movement of materials into production, and maintaining highly accurate inventory records. You will work proactively to strengthen overall facility operations and support a consistent, reliable customer experience.

The job details

• Ensure cost effective and efficient use of freight/transportation including company owned and external freight solution.
• Creates and reviews procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize internal and external customer satisfaction and minimize cost.
• Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system.
• Prepare and manage annual budget for department.
• Produce reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock report etc.)
• Develops solutions that leverage the Company's volumes, systems and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
• Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management in order to achieve efficient product distribution.
• Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.
• Participate in strategic planning and facilitate action on these plans for the assigned area.
• Ensure accurate compliance of negotiated terms with customers, vendors and suppliers.
• Review processes to minimize errors and maximize purchase spending.
• Manage freight carriers to address and resolve discrepancies on freight bills and negotiate excessive charges on freight bills with our carriers.
• Respond to issues raised by our customers and vendors, and follow-up with the carriers when there are problems with freight damage, shortages, incorrect charges and emergencies. Investigate problems and issues and resolve these efficiently.
• Work closely with other departments; including, but not limited to manufacturing, maintenance, purchasing, customer service, sales and accounting to ensure effective communication and support of company directives, customer requirements and process needs. Develop and maintain a strong sense of teamwork among the departments.
