Furniture Technician Job Description
Our Furniture Craftsman works closely with the Customer Service team to inspect or repair and satisfy any furniture damages or manufacturer defects our client's customers may encounter. Furniture Craftsman will have exceptional customer service skills, in addition to having the skills necessary to successfully inspect or repair wood, upholstery, mechanical, leather, and other components or materials associated with furniture. This person is the ambassador of our business and must endeavor to supply our client's customers with consummate service and total satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions
1. Expert knowledge of the craft to inspect and make repairs and touch up for wood, leather, composite material, upholstered and mechanical products normally associated with home furnishing.
2. Retain and apply complicated instructions and directions dictated by live voice, written word, phone calls, and or by other means of communication.
3. Complete documentation and submit on a timely basis as required for the business.
4. Responsible for cleanliness and protection of the customer's property.
5. Responsible to follow all safety rules and training.
6. Perform job duties independently and unassisted by others.
7. To professionally interact and verbally communicate with various individuals, customers, staff, clients, and the general public.
8. Able to drive a personal car or truck independently and without the assistance of others.
9. Able to use devices such as cell phones, computers, and tablets to send and receive text, files, emails, voice mails, and phone calls.
10. Knowledgeable of GPS devices and/or use of maps
11. Perform additional function that may be assigned at the discretion of the company.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
1. Driving - Ability to sit and drive a car (or similar) up to 10 hours a day to service customers in routed areas without assistance.
2. Standing – Must be able to stand upright on an infrequent basis for up to eight hours a day.
3. Lifting – Abe to lift up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds infrequently, and up to 75 pounds rarely.
4. Walking – Able to walk from car to customer's home and back again (each service call) up to 300' frequently, 500' infrequently and 500'+ rarely for each trip.
5. Stairs - Able to walk up and down stairs on an infrequent to frequent basis several times a day without aid or assistance.
6. Pulling and/or Pushing – Able to pull and/or push up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds infrequently, and up to 75 pounds infrequently.
7. Carrying and/or Holding – Able to carry and/or hold up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds infrequently, and up to 75 pounds rarely.
8. Grasping/Finger Dexterity – Must be able to grasp, hold, and manipulate very small to large objects with left or right hands and fingers.
9. Reaching – Must be able to use arms and/or hands to reach forward, downward or overhead.
10. Stooping, Crouching and Kneeling – Must be able to bend forward at waist, bend spine, and bend legs at hip and knees. Get on hands and knees to inspect or repair furniture down to floor level.
11. Visual Acuity – Must be able to see in dim light, see extremely small objects, and recognize various textures of wood, upholstery, and other surfaces needed in furniture repair with or without corrective lenses.
12. Color Determination – Must be to distinguish color (no color blindness) for the purposes of mixing and blending stains, finishes, materials, threads, etc. normally associated with the repair of furniture. Also, needs to determine wire colors to fix electrical components of furniture.
13. Speaking - Must be able to verbally articulate information, instructions, data, and other information to various individuals, customers, clients, customer service, supervision, etc.
14. Reading Comprehension - Able to read and comprehend documents, instructions, text messages, reports, and other written communications.
15. Hearing – Must be able to hear speech and words via normal live voice interaction or by phone, with or without hearing aids.
16. Comprehension – Must be able to comprehend simple to complicated information via the written word, visual instruction/training, or by voice interaction.
