Position:
The US Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of all US accounting and financial reporting activities for our client. This role oversees US accounting operations with a strong focus on manufacturing cost accounting, plant financial performance, internal controls, and compliance, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and IFRS. Reporting to the CFO, the US Controller serves as a trusted business partner to plant leadership,operations, and commercial teams, providing actionable financial insight to drive cost discipline, margin improvement, and operational efficiency. The role leads and develops the US accounting and cost accounting teams, strengthens financial governance, and drives continuous improvement across systems, processes, and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
US Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Lead all US accounting operations with a strong emphasis on manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, overhead absorption, and labor and burden rates.
  • Oversee accounting for plant operations, including raw materials, WIP, finished goods, scrap, rework, capitalization of manufacturing assets, and cycle counts/physical inventories.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, including Percentage of Completion (POC) for project-based manufacturing.
  • Direct timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for US manufacturing entities in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, plant-level P&Ls, and management reporting, ensuring transparency into manufacturing performance and cost drivers.
  • Coordinate and standardize US monthly reporting, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting activities.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Governance
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, GAAP, IFRS, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, including year-end audit activities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and control.
Business Partnership & Financial Leadership
  • Key finance business partner to US operations, sales, and project management teams.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis on margins, cost drivers, SG&A, working capital, and profitability.
  • Support pricing, customer quotes, and project reviews in line with divisional and group guidelines.
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial performance reviews.
  • Review and support capital expenditure requests and investment proposals for US operations.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the US accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build depth of capability within the team through coaching, training, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement across all finance functions worldwide.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible accounting and financial leadership experience, including significant experience in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, global accounting practices, internal controls, and financial governance.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (SAP ECC preferred) and financial systems implementation or optimization.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and influence teams across cultures and geographies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
