Summary: The laser operator is responsible for programming, operating and maintaining laser machinery for cutting and etching various grades of stainless steel sheet metal. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Set up and operate laser machinery according to specifications provided.

· Select  and import cutting programs into Sigmanest nesting software.

· Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.

· Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise with laser machinery.

· Inspect and maintain laser machines to ensure they are in good working condition. Perform prescribed maintenance as required.

· Detect and report defective materials.

· Issue materials used into an ERP system.

· Perform other related operations as required or directed. May work at different workstations as production needs require.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift and overhead crane certification.

Other Skills and Abilities:  Must be able to read and interpret drawings, routers, use simple/basic math, and basic hand-held measuring tools. The ability to understand and communicate information is essential. Must be able to work and stay on task with little supervision.

Education/Requirements: Proven experience as a Laser Operator required. Experience running Mitsubishi LVP laser a plus. High School Diploma or GED.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a shop environment. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, and dust.
