Section 1 – Position Summary
This position performs skilled preventative and corrective maintenance activities, in an industrial setting, related to the inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment and production equipment which may include: ozone generators, chemical equipment, air compressors, valves, piping, motors pumps and various rotating assemblies.
Section 2 – Major Responsibilities
Maintains various water and wastewater treatment, purification and production related equipment and facilitates mechanical repairs necessary to keep equipment operating in an efficient manner.
Coordinates with water and wastewater operations personnel to assure critical equipment is operational.
May be asked to assist other departments with various task during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
Performs all routine preventative maintenance tasks as specified in the equipment operations and maintenance manuals.
Performs routine repair and preventative maintenance tasks on other equipment as directed.
Observes safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out.
Call Rotation
Personnel assigned to a shift work location will be required to participate in a regular twelve-hour shift schedule and must be able to work overtime when needed
Personnel NOT assigned to a shift work location will be required to be on a rotational "ONCALL" status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours must be able to work overtime when needed
Section 3 – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must be able to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.
Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction.
Must become proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System
Must have the ability to read operations and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints and safety datasheets.
Must possess considerable knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Section 4 – Education and Experience
Minimum one-year experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment similar to that used in the water/wastewater treatment industry.
Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Section 5 – Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment
This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 pounds on a daily basis and up to 100 pounds on a weekly basis in order to repair and service pumps, motors and machinery while using various hand tools and equipment. Working conditions include exposure to high voltage areas, weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases and dust. Hand and power tools including drill press and lathe, welding equipment, emergency lighting equipment, safety equipment and crane.
