At Dojo Gelato, our kitchen team is the engine behind everything we serve—scratch-made gelati, sorbetti, sauces, baked goods, and inclusions. This is a hands-on production role for someone who loves working with food, takes pride in consistency, and enjoys being part of a small team that cares deeply about craft, cleanliness, and getting better every week.

What you'll do

You'll support daily production and prep with an emphasis on quality, organization, and food safety:

• Produce scratch-made sauces (caramel, chocolate, butterscotch, etc.)
• Operate batch freezers and pasteurizer to spin, fill, and extract gelati and sorbetti
• Prep inclusions: wash, process, chop, and portion fruit and mix-ins
• Bake items such as cookies, cakes, cones, and brittles (as scheduled)
• Stock, label, date, rotate, and organize products in walk-in freezers
• Sanitize equipment, tools, and work areas to production standards
• Follow recipes, specs, and kitchen systems to ensure consistency
• Support weekly purchase and delivery of retail supplies to locations (as assigned)
• Uphold food production facility safety and health guidelines at all times

What we're looking for

• Culinary-minded and excited to learn (professional kitchen experience is a plus, not required)
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently once trained
• Detail-oriented—labels, dates, portions, and cleanliness matter here
• Calm, productive, and team-focused in a busy production environment
• Able to follow written recipes and procedures consistently

Physical requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a production kitchen environment
• Ability to lift and carry up to ~50 lbs (ingredients, tubs, supplies)
• Comfortable working around cold storage/freezers and hot ovens as needed

Schedule & hours

• Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings and/or afternoons (varies by season)
• 12–20 hours/week, depending on season and production needs

Compensation: Starting pay is $17.00–$18.00/hour (DOE) plus participation in our weekly credit-card tip pool (April–September). A pay review is available after 60–90 days based on performance and reliability. With tip pool April-Septmber, hourly rate during high season is $19-23 hr.

Expected hours: 12.0 – 25.0 per week
