LANES is a community-based Healthcare Information Organization (HIO) whose mission is to improve health care delivery by building a platform that enables cost-effective and secure electronic exchange of patient medical records among public and private health care providers and health plans in Los Angeles County. LANES seeks to make personal health information available when and where it is needed for patient care, safely and securely.
LANES uses the Mirth technology, AWS cloud and Google Big Query and FHIR, to link healthcare organizations and to maintain the core technology infrastructure of the Health Information Organization.
*Position Summary*
As a *Quality Assurance Engineer* you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our healthcare technology solutions. Your technical expertise will drive the implementation of rigorous testing processes, automated test suites, and continuous integration practices to guarantee the seamless functioning of our systems while adhering to IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) and HL7 (Health Level Seven) standards, including the API-focused FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standard. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and rectify defects, optimize software performance, and contribute to the overall enhancement of our healthcare data exchange platform.
*Special Note*: This is a virtual home-based position. Will be required to attend in-person meetings in the Los Angeles area as-needed basis, generally once or twice a year.
This is a full-time benefited position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Test Planning and Strategy: Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on functional specifications and requirements while ensuring alignment with IHE and FHIR standards. Collaborate with software development teams to understand system architecture and behavior for effective test design.· Automated Testing: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG). Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate efficient testing practices.· Functional and Regression Testing: Conduct thorough functional, regression, and integration testing to identify defects, inconsistencies, and anomalies in software applications. Ensure compatibility across different platforms and environments while adhering to best practices.· Performance Testing: Design and execute performance and load tests to assess the scalability, responsiveness, and stability of software applications. Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance.· Security Testing: Collaborate with security teams to perform vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to ensure the protection of sensitive healthcare data while maintaining compliance with security guidelines.· Defect Management: Document and track defects using issue tracking systems. Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve issues promptly.· Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing testing processes and methodologies, Propose and implement enhancements to increase testing efficiency, accuracy, and coverage.· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of testing efforts with project goals, and industry best practices.· Quality Standards: Uphold and enforce standards and industry best practices for software development and testing. Stay informed about emerging QA trends, tools, and technologies.· QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
· Proven experience (3+ years) as a Quality Assurance Engineer, with a focus on testing interoperability and complex software applications.
· Strong proficiency in test automation using tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar frameworks.
· Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
· In-depth knowledge of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
· Experience with healthcare IT systems, HL7, IHE, FHIR, and interoperability standards is required.
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira)
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
· Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience with industry best practices quality experience preferred.
*Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities*
· Solid understanding of IHE and ITI transactions
· Solid understanding of HL7 (Health Level Seven) standards, including FHIR, HL7 V2, and CCDA
· Ability to work with minimal supervision and work collaboratively.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $93,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
