Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Team Assistant performs a wide range of grounds and facilities maintenance tasks to keep the school environment clean, orderly, and safe. Work must be performed in accordance with OSHA standards.

Primary Job Duties

• Assist with setup and breakdown for campus events (tables, chairs, podiums, furniture, equipment, etc.)
• Perform groundskeeping, including sweeping and blowing leaves and clippings
• Clean offices and site areas; empty trash; clean windows
• Operate powered equipment such as mowers, blowers, and similar tools
• Maintain lawns by mulching, weeding, trimming, edging around flower beds, walks, and walls
• Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges using hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge/brush trimmers, axes, shears, pruners, chain saws)
• Rake and water trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, bulbs, and seeds
• Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features
• Meet schedules and deadlines
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Ability to communicate via phone, email, and text
• Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands frequently
• Ability to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to push, pull, grip, and handle tools and equipment
• Ability to climb and work on ladders
• Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, including uphill and uneven terrain, sometimes while carrying equipment
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with equipment
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Requirements After Hiring

• Valid California driver's license and auto insurance
• Recent DMV Driver Record Report
• Virtus Training Certification and LiveScan fingerprinting
• TB Risk Assessment, per California requirements
