Ground Systems Integration Engineer

Location:
Hybrid 2–3 days per week in-office in Irvine (CA), Arvada (CO), Seattle (WA) or Washington D.C.

As a
Ground Systems Integration Engineer
, you'll be responsible for developing and integrating
Command & Control (C2)
software solutions for satellite systems. Working closely with customer stakeholders, you'll translate mission requirements into scalable, reliable engineering solutions using modern mission management platforms.

Your primary focus will be on integrating new spacecraft and flight software into existing ground system architectures, ensuring smooth communication between satellites and ground assets. You'll collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver robust, high-quality solutions that simplify satellite operations and enhance mission performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate
    C2 software
    for spacecraft and ground systems.
  • Collaborate with customers to decompose mission objectives into technical solutions.
  • Integrate new satellites and flight software into mission management platforms.
  • Perform low-level software integration and debugging across software-hardware interfaces.
  • Support the development and integration of solutions into broader system architectures.
  • Build and maintain expertise in
    C2 standards and protocols
    , including CCSDS, CSP, CFDP, XTCE, and MIB.
  • Ensure integrations meet high standards of reliability, maintainability, and scalability.

Technical Qualifications

  • Proficiency in
    Python, C++, or Java
    .
  • Experience developing
    real-time embedded software
    or integrating hardware assets with mission software.
  • Preferred experience with
    satellite communication protocols
    such as CCSDS, CSP, CFDP, IP, and associated data processing algorithms.
  • Familiarity with
    XTCE
    ,
    MIB
    , or equivalent telemetry and command data frameworks.
  • Understanding of
    encryption algorithms
    such as AES-256 (GCM, CFB, ECB), NSA Type 1 PEGASUS, and CARIBOU.
  • Preferred experience with
    AWS cloud services
    (Lambda, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch, S3, EFS/EBS, EC2, RDS).
  • Familiarity with
    Git/GitHub
    or equivalent version control tools.
  • Preference for candidates with experience contributing to or using
    open-source software
    .

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Computer Science, Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ years
    of experience in
    satellite command and control systems
    or comparable hardware-software integration environments.
  • Must me eligible and willing to hold a US security clearance
