Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Boone County Chamber and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, strengthening business and community relationships, and ensuring operational excellence. The Executive Director works closely with and reports to the Board of Directors to promote business success, community collaboration, and long-term regional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the Chamber's short and long-term strategic goals.
- Serve as a visible and trusted community leader, representing the Chamber at business, civic, and governmental functions.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to maintain alignment on priorities, performance metrics, and mission delivery.
- Manage Chamber staff, including workplace policies, hiring and termination of employees with expressed consent of Board of Directors, performance reviews, and human resource compliance procedures.
Membership & Community Relations
- Build and sustain strong relationships with businesses, civic organizations, and community partners throughout Boone County. The Director is expected to collaborate with economic and tourism partners.
- Spend a minimum of 20% of work hours out in the community meeting with Chamber Members, gaining insight into their needs, supporting their success, and growing engagement and retention. Chamber scheduled events not included in this time.
- Develop and implement initiatives and programming that increase membership value and visibility.
- Intentionally communicate each member's impact toward the work of the Chamber.
- Intentionally communicate the Chamber's impact on each member's business/organization.
Organizational Administration
- Oversee the daily operations of the Chamber, including staff supervision and office management.
- Maintain a professional and collaborative work culture that promotes communication, innovation, and service.
- Ensure compliance with policies, bylaws, and applicable laws and regulations.
Financial Management
- Manage the Chamber's annual budget, financial reporting, and fiscal planning.
- Coordinate with Operations Manager to oversee financial transactions,
