About the Role

McDermott + Bull is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Senior Accountant
to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of corporate accounting — from accounts payable and receivable to payroll, reporting, and process improvement. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial operations across multiple business units, while also contributing to efficiency improvements and supporting leadership with meaningful financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices in a timely manner and ensure integrity of all payments
  • Maintain vendor information in financial database
  • Process and reconcile all monthly corporate credit card statements
  • Record daily invoices and receive payments
  • Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports and improve/optimize collection times by establishing targets and monitoring collections
  • Assist in month-end close and reporting for multiple business units
  • Oversee onboarding, payroll, and termination processes for McDermott + Bull Interim Leaders business unit
  • Produce weekly and monthly financial reports to share with leadership team
  • Assist in year-end close and preparation for tax season
  • Perform root cause analysis when required and prepare corrective entries
  • Analyze accounting systems, identify any inaccuracies, and recommend improvement measures to all
  • Provide general office administrative duties
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Mission-Critical Objectives (First 6 Months)

  • Gain responsibility and ownership for all parts of A/R and A/P processes across each business unit
  • Develop a strong understanding of the unique accounting requirements and nuances for each business unit
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 1–4 years of experience in a comparable accounting role is required
  • Strong AP/AR experience is required
  • QuickBooks experience strongly preferred; experience with other accounting software platforms required
  • Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word) is required
  • Strong Excel skills required: Power BI is a plus
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrates a sense of urgency
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet competing deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a demonstrated sense of urgency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot quickly and accurately
  • Experience working on-site in a professional office environment is required
  • Experience working across multiple business units is a plus
