Overview:

This position is responsible for a wide variety of duties. Responsible for helping direct and administer the operational efforts of the branch. Ensures that established policies and procedures are followed. Oversees provision of a full range of services to members and prospective members. Ensures that members are promptly and professionally served. Assumes responsibility for the branch when the branch manager is absent.

Reports To: Branch Manager

Roles and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient performance of Branch operations.

  • Supervises work scheduling and workflow of daily routine operations.
  • Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures branch security. Opens and closes the building in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment.
  • Supervises and assists with Member Services functions. Cross-sells Credit Union services.
  • Implements changes based on established policy and procedures within the branch.

Effectively supervises branch staff, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Provides leadership through effective objective setting and communication.
  • Directly supervises front-line personnel. Ensures that high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained.
  • Ensures that personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Conducts in-branch trainings in accordance with Branch Manager's plan.
  • Keeps branch manager up to date on daily happenings at the front line. Areas of improvement, positive situations, training, and staffing needs, etc.

Directly works with members and MSRs to establish and maintain effective, professional business relations with members.

  • Ensures that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles members' complaints.
  • Ensures that members are informed of Credit Union services and policies. Counsels members regarding their financial needs and services requested.
  • Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.

Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of the branch manager's plan for branch functions.

  • Pursues cost-saving measures.
  • Continually seeks ways to improve operations and productivity.
  • Ensures that adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available for personnel.
  • Ensures prudent safety measures are followed.
  • Keeps management informed of branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems. Requests assistance when necessary.

Assumes responsibility for related functions as required or assigned.

  • Fills in and performs duties in branch positions as needed.
  • Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Ability to work independently, with little to no supervisory oversight.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, good time management skills and the ability to initiate and embrace change.
  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years of banking experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good decision-making skills that are working toward becoming consistent, thoughtful, and informed, with the ability to consider alternate conclusions and actions.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to remain professional when dealing with different situations.
  • Ability to make objective observations, examinations, evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Strong member service skills.
  • General mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

General Office Duties:

  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day).
  • Regular use of a computer and office equipment (e.g., phone, printer, copier).
  • Manual dexterity required for typing and data entry.

Physical Activity:

  • Occasional walking, bending, or reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry files, documents, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Vision and Hearing:

  • Clear vision required to read financial documents, computer screens, and other office materials.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to hold conversations over the phone and in person.
