Teacher Assistant

Overview
Roanoke Valley Children's Academy is hiring for our educational team as a Teacher Assistant, where your dedication will directly impact the growth and development of young learners. In this role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children across various early childhood classrooms from infant to six years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers with daily classroom activities, lesson planning, and educational exercises tailored to early childhood development.
• Supervise children during playtime, meals, naps, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and promote positive behavior management.
• Implement classroom management strategies to foster respectful interactions and encourage social skills among children.
• Provide basic caregiving duties such as diapering, infant care, toddler care, and assisting with personal hygiene routines such as hand washing etc.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that promotes safety and learning readiness.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar environments.
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles, childhood development stages, and behavior management techniques.
• Certification or training in first aid and CPR is highly desirable to ensure safety during emergencies.
• Strong classroom management skills combined with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team dedicated to nurturing young minds.
• A motivated individual who is excited to come to work daily. Reliability is a must

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
