SUMMARY: This position will be expected to research, identify, and implement solutions for designing, manufacturing, and testing sensing products. They must be a skilled engineer and have a solid understanding of basic design, critical thinking, and troubleshooting techniques and principles. The Project Engineer I will provide both individual technical contributions and perform as a key member of a team that supports the design, development, and test of sensing products. Project scopes may include generating electrical and mechanical technical definitions, development of plans and resources to accomplish defined goals, monitoring & recording of project progress, coordinating internal and external development efforts, coordinating internal and external test requirements, development of verification/validation procedures, and any other activities as needed by the Project Scope. Project management or support of major multi-disciplinary aerospace, or similar, program oriented development projects will be required from a project planning, progress maintenance, and implementation support perspective.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contributes to the development of new product & process requirements and documentation through review of customer specifications, contract documents, design packages, and industry standards, or through consulting with the customer and internal resources such as engineering, sales, etc.
  • Develops BOMs, product routings, component design, product definitions, and is responsible for identifying any other required documentation to satisfy product deliverables.
  • Performs reviews of customers specifications to identify and author internal documentation such as acceptance test plans, qualification test plans, product definitions, engineering reports or other technical documents to ensure conformance to contract requirements
  • Contributes to the preparation and presentation of successful design reviews, including FMEAs, PFMEAs, compliance matrices, risk assessments, cost estimates, and technical write ups.
  • Assists in efforts to transition development products into the production environment while maintaining design integrity, producibility, and quality of production products.
  • Maintains oversight of process development for internal methods and external vendors including development of technique sheets, process documentation, manufacturing instructions for instrumentation in aerospace or similar applications
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong technical skills, mechanical designs and manufacturing knowledge including the ability to interpret, review, and modify technical drawings.
  • Proficient in effective communication (verbal and written) with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to generate end-to-end documentation required for product launch (internal, external, regulatory, and other third-party certification bodies).
  • Exhibit self-starting instincts, strong analytical skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experienced in writing FMEA/PFMEA, Reliability Reports, and Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards applicable to the design and test of sensor instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation manufacturing processes, special processes (welding, heat treatment & passivation of material, etc.), NDE (ultrasonic inspection, dye penetrant inspection, mag particle inspection, etc.), environmental testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, ALT/HALT, etc.), and general aerospace manufacturing methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of automated test equipment, test consoles, electrical component selection, test processes and procedures, facilities requirements, equipment maintenance, clean rooms, safety standards, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity of signal capturing and processing for sensor instrumentation.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction, and no color blindness, steady hands with good dexterity. (Company issued annual eye exam.)
