Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairments, and other special needs. Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique abilities and goals.
  • Design and deliver engaging lesson plans across core subjects such as literacy, math, physical education, and social skills, incorporating specialized curricula like Montessori or early childhood education methods when appropriate.
  • Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment that promotes respect, safety, and active participation.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support students' communication, behavioral health, and developmental needs.
  • Incorporate learning technology tools to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
  • Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Manage behavior through proactive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to foster self-regulation and positive social interactions.
  • Support early intervention initiatives by providing targeted instruction for toddlers and preschool-aged children with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral data to ensure compliance with educational standards and funding requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to share updates on student development and coordinate support services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license for special education in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Strong knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with speech therapy integration, behavioral health practices, and sensory processing techniques is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development tailored for diverse learners including those with autism spectrum disorder or hearing impairments.
  • Ability to utilize learning technology effectively within the classroom setting.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, families, and external specialists.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and experience working with toddlers or preschoolers is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $62.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
