East Chapman Veterinary Center is seeking a skilled veterinary assistant to join our team as a Room Technician The right candidate must be compassionate and uphold a high standard in providing excellent patient care and customer service. The veterinary assistant must be able to work efficiently and effectively both as a team player and independently, utilize down- time, and multi-task.

East Chapman Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital located in the beautiful city of Orange, California. We proudly provide routine and emergency medical services as well as surgeries for small animal, exotic, and avian species. We boast a newly remodeled front lobby and recently purchased state-of-the-art medical equipment. Our beliefs and actions are focused on giving the best care to our clients, pets, and community. In line with our mission, we are heavily immersed in providing assistance and medical services to many animal shelters and animal rescues in the area.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Handles all client/patient communication during DVM exam
  • Room clients and take history of patient
  • Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
  • Enter doctors notes
  • Creates and reviews estimates with client both in-person and over the phone
  • Oversee and assist with treatment and diagnostics as approved by the client
  • Fills prescription as directed by the DVM and as allowed by law
  • Invoices services and products
  • Discharges patient
  • Reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home as directed by the veterinarian
  • Triages incoming emergencies
  • Utilize low stress handling techniques

Veterinary Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous customer service experience, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong affinity for animal welfare.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Capacity to work efficiently during stressful situations.
  • Ability to work shifts overtime or on weekends, as needed.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Personable, empathic disposition.
