The Equipment Asset Manager oversees the full lifecycle of the company's physical equipment—from planning and acquisition through maintenance support and disposal—to maximize value, optimize performance, and reduce cost and risk. This position ensures accurate equipment data, strong cost controls, and reliable reporting that supports leadership in making effective fleet decisions. The Equipment Asset Manager partners closely with the Fleet Director to keep equipment information, processes, and systems aligned and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Develop and execute strategies for the entire lifecycle of equipment, from acquisition to disposition.
  • Inventory & Tracking: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date inventory of all equipment assets using TENNA and conduct routine physical audits to verify records.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor utilization and performance data to identify under-utilized equipment, optimize usage, and support fleet planning decisions.
  • Financial Management: Support equipment budgeting and forecasting, monitor expenditures, manage costs, and perform cost-benefit analysis and depreciation reporting.
  • Valuation & Remarketing: Evaluate equipment values, monitor market trends, and implement strategies for remarketing, sale, or disposition of surplus, off-lease, or repossessed assets.
  • Compliance & Safety: Help ensure equipment and related processes comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT) and support operator training and documentation as needed.
  • Vendor & Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, vendors, brokers, and third-party providers; negotiate contracts; and ensure quality service and support.

Fleet Data Systems Management

  • Support fleet-related software systems and improvements (CMMS, ERP, OEM portals, telematics, and integrations).
  • Ensure data accuracy across systems and resolve data exceptions and inconsistencies.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting for utilization, downtime, financial KPIs, and asset performance.
  • Lead system improvement projects and process optimization efforts that increase efficiency and data reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with fleet management and/or construction equipment required.
  • Proficiency in Excel and fleet management systems (TENNA experience preferred).
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and present clear insights to leadership.
  • Strong understanding of equipment terminology, utilization drivers, and lifecycle impacts.
  • Organized, process-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with working knowledge of equipment types and the markets where they operate.
