The Security Sales Engineer helps organisations operate securely in an evolving digital landscape. This role combines deep technical expertise with consultative engagement to design and deliver security solutions that protect critical assets ensure compliance, and enable secure business growth. You'll be joining a team focused on helping businesses and government agencies (MoD, NHS, Police) achieve ambitious outcomes, securely. BT works with some of the biggest organisations nationally, including finance, logistics, manufacturing and more. Security is an enabler and in this role you'll be a trusted advisor for both internal and external stakeholders. Long term there are opportunities to expand your presence in the security field, build key skills and receive support in gaining higher level certification. What You’ll Be Doing
Support the sales process by providing technical expertise during presentations, bids, and solution workshops. Contribute to account planning and strategy, identifying opportunities for security enhancements and growth. Engage with customers across public and private sectors to understand their security challenges and business objectives. Deliver technical demonstrations and proof‑of‑concepts to validate proposed solutions for customers. Design and propose tailored security solutions leveraging BT’s portfolio of products and services. Ensure compliance and risk mitigation by solutions with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal teams (sales, product, delivery) to ensure seamless solution implementation and customer success. The Skills You’ll Need
Business Analysis Technology Strategy Market Analysis Presenting/Demonstrating Pre‑Sales Requirements Analysis Business Development Solution Selling Network Design Solution Design Experience Required
Experience in pre‑sales or technical consultancy within security or networking domains. Technical knowledge of network and cyber security solutions (e.g., firewalls, SASE, SD‑WAN, threat detection). Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences. Understanding of compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements across public and private sectors. Working collaboratively in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, SSCP, CompTIA Security+, CCNP Security, vendor‑specific accreditations) are desirable.
