Cashier

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our team at our grocery store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while handling transactions accurately and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of retail operations and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them with their purchases.
• Maintain an organized checkout area, ensuring it is clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Upsell products by effectively communicating promotions and special offers to customers.
• Assist in supervising junior staff members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise during the checkout process.
• Perform basic retail math calculations to ensure accurate pricing and change distribution.
• Follow all store policies regarding cash handling and security measures.

Skills

• Proficient in operating POS systems and cash registers.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with customers positively.
• Experience in retail sales, preferably within a grocery store environment.
• Knowledge of stock management practices to assist in inventory control.
• Ability to supervise and guide team members effectively during peak hours.
• Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer calls or inquiries as needed.
• Familiarity with retail math concepts for accurate transaction processing.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
