Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to join a healthcare system at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation. Reporting directly to a newly appointed Director, this role offers a "ground-up" chance to build procurement operations, mentor a team, and shape strategic sourcing initiatives from scratch.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end purchasing and contracting function, overseeing a team of four junior buyers
- Evaluate supplier agreements and manage vendor performance across medical, surgical, and non-clinical categories
- Own contract negotiation, compliance, and lifecycle management—particularly in alignment with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, CMS, etc.)
- Develop and implement procurement policies, drive cost savings initiatives, and enhance supply chain efficiency
- Manage Workday Procurement workflows and ensure data integrity across purchasing records
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical and administrative departments to align procurement strategies with operational needs
- Train, coach, and grow the procurement team to support long-term departmental goals
Who You Are:
- A seasoned procurement professional with
5+ years of experience
in healthcare purchasing, contract negotiation, and vendor management - A strong leader with experience managing or mentoring junior staff
- Workday Procurement
expertise is
non-negotiable
—you must have experience using Workday in a professional setting - You're detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a regulated environment
- You're passionate about building scalable systems and making an impact through smart, ethical purchasing decisions
- Ideally, you've worked in a
hospital
or
large clinical setting
, or bring relevant experience from a highly regulated industry
Education & Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree (field of study is flexible)
- Proficiency in contract drafting, vendor relations, and regulatory compliance
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
