CNC Machinist/ VTL Operator

Job Description:

AHS is seeking a CNC Mill and Lathe Operator to operate CNC machines and use existing programming to produce a variety of parts. The ideal candidate will possess several years of CNC operating experience, some exposure to CNC programming, and attributes of a self-starter as this individual will at times work under indirect supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.

· Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.

· Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.

· Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.

· Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.

· Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.

· Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.

· Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Previous CNC programming experience preferred.

· Understanding of material properties & characteristics.

· Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gage, and comparator stand / gage.

· Advanced computer knowledge.

· Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.

Education / Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED

· 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience.

· Familiarity and experience operating HAAS vertical axis CNC machines.
