Council on Aging in Union County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults remain independent and safe in their homes and community. Through in-home services, family caregiver support, group respite, home safety programs, and resource coordination, we serve thousands of older adults and their family caregivers each year.
Position Summary
The Community Engagement & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Council on Aging in Union County's major fundraising and community engagement events. This position serves as the primary staff lead for event logistics and coordination, with a strong emphasis on the Corks and Forks Wine and Food Festival.
The role also supports fundraising-related communications, community outreach, and volunteer coordination, working closely with the Development Director to carry out the organization's fund development plan.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Coordination
- Lead planning and execution of major events, including:
- Corks and Forks Wine and Food Festival
- Senior Wellness Expo
- Develop event timelines, task lists, and coordination plans.
- Coordinate venues, vendors, catering, entertainment, volunteers, and logistics.
- Manage event-day operations and post-event wrap-up.
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and coordinate volunteers to support fundraising events and community engagement activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers related to events and engagement.
- Schedule and communicate volunteer assignments and expectations.
- Coordinate the annual volunteer appreciation event in collaboration with leadership.
- Maintain basic volunteer records and engagement information as needed.
Sponsorship & Community Partnerships
- Support sponsorship outreach and fulfillment in coordination with the Development Director and leadership team.
- Maintain relationships with sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ensure sponsor and volunteer recognition is accurate and timely.
Communications & Promotion
- Draft and coordinate communications, including:
- Newsletters
- Website updates
- Social media posts, working with outside social media agency
- Assist with creation of promotional materials and graphics.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across platforms.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Represent the organization at community events and engagements.
- Prepare and deliver presentations that communicate the organization's impact and goals.
- Cultivate relationships with community stakeholders and partners to enhance collaboration and visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in event planning, communications, community engagement, or volunteer coordination.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfort working flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Passion for mission-driven work and community engagement.
