The College of Humanities, Education and the Arts seeks an adjunct instructor to teach the graduate level course, EDAD 6585, School Law. This course is designed to develop skills of legal research and analysis in the field of education law at the public school level as well as survey the myriad of legal issues found in today's school environment. Particular attention will be given to the current legal trends and decisions as they impact the state of Washington. Major leadership skills include the assessment of legal scenarios and how administrators can avoid legal conflicts and address those that arise. Skills also include the knowledge and application of dealing with legal issues in the areas of special education, issues of diversity and social justice in an ethical manner. Adjunct educators are hired on a contractual, part-time basis, for specified quarters throughout an academic year. Duties include developing syllabi and assignments, teaching classes and assessing student performance.
Requirements:
· Doctoral degree in Education: Administration (discipline) , or
· Terminal degree in related field, or excellent instructional skills
· Terminal degree in another field with heavy emphasis on writing
· A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU's mission , alignment with the University's Statement of Faith , and willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
· A comfortability discussing the intersection of faith and writing with students

The salary for adjunct faculty is $876/credit in the College of Humanities, Education and the Arts.
