Position Summary, Mid-Level Documentation Analyst

We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual to join our team with mid-level technical writing and editing skills to prepare technical documents that support the testing, integration, operation, and maintenance of technically sophisticated U.S. Navy systems. In this position, the Documentation Analyst will be embedded with the technical team and will become extremely familiar with all aspects of Naval systems. They will be challenged to use and improve their writing skills to edit and initiate writing a variety of documents that will be used by government and fleet personnel. In this position, the Documentation Analyst will develop coherent, easy-to-follow procedures, following Navy instructions, policies, and procedures. This requires adhering to specification requirements and scope and independently developing the initial draft of documents that align with the government's standards. Prior experience supporting the Department of the Navy is a plus.
Highlights of Responsibilities:
- Organize and write required technical material using Microsoft Word per established Navy standards with respect to order, style, terminology, and sequencing.
- Review publications and recommend revisions or changes in approaches, scope, format, test, methods of production, and dissemination.
- Consult with technical team leaders and subject matter experts to ensure common understanding of documents and related materials.
- Ensure documents will pass the strictest level of quality assurance review.
- Usher documents through the review and signature routing process.
- Develop technical presentations and take meeting minutes.
Required Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Publications, or related field.
- Three or more years of recent, relevant experience.
- Experience developing (writing, editing, and formatting) and maintaining technical documents.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience developing technical documentation for the U.S. Navy or other Department of Defense/Department of War programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and meeting their respective deadlines.
- Consistently devotes accurate attention to details.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Requires nominal supervision and thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Strong technical writing, editing, and formatting skills.
- Highly proficient with the Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Travel:
- None planned at this time.
Tools and Technology:
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Government-owned websites and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) web-based tools.
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Most work will be accomplished at NSWC PCD.
- Some tasks may include reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, squatting, kneeling, and walking.
- IPS is a drug-free employer.
- Proof of citizenship will be required upon employment at IPS.
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
