Cashier part time

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role involves operating POS systems, managing cash handling procedures, and supporting store operations to ensure smooth daily functions. Prior experience in retail sales or grocery stores is preferred, along with strong communication skills and a professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS systems efficiently to process customer transactions accurately and quickly
• Handle cash, credit, and debit payments with precision and integrity
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
• Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
• Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring product availability
• Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about new or featured items
• Assist with inventory management including stock replenishment and inventory counts
• Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
• Support supervising staff during busy periods and help train new team members when needed
• Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and retail math calculations
• Experience in retail sales, merchandising, stocking, or grocery store environments preferred
• Ability to upsell products effectively while maintaining a friendly demeanor
• Bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse customer bases
• Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership roles within the team
• Knowledge of product demos and promotional activities to engage customers effectively
• Excellent communication skills combined with a professional appearance and attitude
