We are seeking a skilled 2nd shift Diesel Technician to become a part of our dynamic team. Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to brake, air systems, electrical, HVAC, drive train and transmission, engine and exhaust, suspension, and steering.
  • Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement of services.
  • Receive annual training from Navistar & Cummins to stay updated with industry standards.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles when required to ensure quality of work.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure that vehicles are kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition.
  • Maintain a neat and clean shop area.
  • Be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as when received.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner and report any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel technology or a related field.
  • Must obtain and maintain State of Michigan HDT repair certifications.

Experience and License Requirements
  • Heavy truck repair - min. of 2 years (optional)
