Activity Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Duties

• Plan, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programming.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being.
• Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced mix of social events, cognitive exercises, outings, and therapeutic recreation sessions.
• Provide companionship and encouragement to residents during activities, fostering a warm and inclusive environment.
• Maintain accurate records of resident participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for documentation purposes.
• Coordinate special events such as holiday celebrations, community outings, or themed programs that enhance resident engagement.
• Support the training of new staff or volunteers involved in activity programs to ensure consistency and quality of service.
• Stay informed about best practices in senior care, Alzheimer's disease management, memory care techniques, and recreational therapy methods to continually improve program offerings.

Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia support strategies, memory care programming, and recreational therapy techniques.
• Prior involvement in event planning or organizing community activities that foster social interaction among seniors or individuals with disabilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with residents from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience assisting residents with ADLs and providing compassionate caregiving support within home or community care settings.
• Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles related to elder populations is highly desirable.
