Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. In this vital role, you will create engaging, meaningful activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being for seniors in assisted living or long-term care settings. Duties
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programming.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced mix of social events, cognitive exercises, outings, and therapeutic recreation sessions.
- Provide companionship and encouragement to residents during activities, fostering a warm and inclusive environment.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for documentation purposes.
- Coordinate special events such as holiday celebrations, community outings, or themed programs that enhance resident engagement.
- Support the training of new staff or volunteers involved in activity programs to ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior care, Alzheimer's disease management, memory care techniques, and recreational therapy methods to continually improve program offerings.
Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia support strategies, memory care programming, and recreational therapy techniques.
- Prior involvement in event planning or organizing community activities that foster social interaction among seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience assisting residents with ADLs and providing compassionate caregiving support within home or community care settings.
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles related to elder populations is highly desirable.
