Center for Hope & Healing
Midland Care Connection's Center for Hope & Healing provides compassionate grief and loss support for individuals, families, and children coping with the death of a loved one. The program offers individual and group counseling, family support, and specialized services such as children's grief groups, Healing Hearts Grief Camp, and seasonal programs like Surviving the Holidays. Many services are offered at no cost or on a sliding fee scale, with care provided by trained professionals in a supportive, healing environment.
Support Specialist
A Support Specialist plays a vital role in helping the organization fulfill its mission of offering compassionate support to individuals and families experiencing grief and loss. The Center for Hope & Healing provides grief counseling and related services to those affected by the death of a loved one, creating a safe and supportive environment where people can process their emotions and find healing. In this role, a Support Specialist typically assists with client interactions, helps maintain welcoming and organized spaces, supports administrative and operational needs, and contributes to the overall comfort and care of visitors. They serve as a calm, empathetic presence—often helping people access resources, providing information, and offering emotional support during difficult moments. Through these efforts, the Support Specialist helps ensure that families and individuals receive dignified, respectful, and meaningful support as they navigate grief and healing.
Employment Type: Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm
Location: Topeka, KS
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a support, direct care, customer service, or human services role (may include volunteer or lived-experience-based roles)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Ability to provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and client-centered support
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional boundaries
- Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic records, email, and data entry
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals from marginalized or underserved communities
- Knowledge of local community resources and referral networks
- Bilingual abilities
- Experience documenting services in compliance with program
