EPCOR's Internal Audit team is looking for a curious, detail oriented Internal Audit Advisor to join our team in a full-time, permanent role based in Edmonton, AB. This is an excellent opportunity for an audit professional who enjoys learning the business, asking the right questions, and contributing to work that strengthens governance, risk management, and internal controls across a complex essential services organization.

In this role, you'll support the annual CSOX engagement and other assigned financial audits that provide meaningful insight into EPCOR's operations. You'll work alongside experienced audit professionals, build a strong understanding of EPCOR's business lines, and develop your audit skills in a collaborative, high integrity environment.

This position is eligible for EPCOR's Where We Work hybrid program and is open to internal and external candidates.

What you'd be responsible for

Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, and working under the direction of the auditor in-charge, you will support the delivery of EPCOR's annual audit plan through the following key accountabilities:

Audit Planning & Engagement Support

  • Contribute general input to audit planning by building understanding of EPCOR's business, risks, and departmental strategies.
  • Support audit engagements through participation in planning and fieldwork activities, including information gathering, walkthroughs, audit testing, and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and execution of audit work programs in accordance with internal standards and professional practices.

CSOX & Compliance Support

  • Participate in CSOX sustainment activities, including scoping, narrative updates, walkthroughs, testing, and documentation maintenance.
  • Support the CSOX sub certification process, including tracking quarterly sub certifications and maintaining related logs and schedules.
  • Apply an understanding of audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements relevant to EPCOR's regulated utility environment.

Quality, Reporting & Follow-up

  • Support high quality audit deliverables by addressing review notes and incorporating feedback in a timely manner.
  • Assist with monitoring and follow up of previously issued audit recommendations to support effective closure.
  • Complete assigned administrative and operational tasks to support the efficient functioning of the Internal Audit team.

What's required to be successful

Education & Experience

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • A professional designation such as CPA or CIA is considered an asset.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a business, technical, or analytical role.
    • Previous experience in internal controls or general audit experience will be considered an asset

Technical Competencies

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint, to support audit analysis, documentation, and reporting.
  • Working understanding of audit methodology, including CSOX sustainment activities and external audit requirements will be considered an asset
  • Foundational knowledge of the Institute of Internal Auditors' Global Internal Audit Standards is an asset

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly.

Travel Requirements: This role requires occasional travel to various EPCOR locations within Edmonton.
