Role Overview We are looking for a motivated and personable engineer to join our team as Projects Engineer at Gibraltar Mine. This position would provide a great opportunity for a registered professional engineer or experienced engineer-in-training to gain hands-on experience in field engineering support for maintenance projects. The successful candidate will work with various site departments to provide engineering support and project management. This role also offers the opportunity to establish a long-term career with the company, providing exposure to diverse engineering challenges, professional development, and potential for growth within the organization. Core Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Mines and WorkSafeBC Safety Standards.
- Execute projects by offering project management services and liaising with engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors as necessary.
- Interact with all site departments to provide engineered solutions to address identified safety concerns in a timely fashion.
- Offer general engineering technical support to operations and maintenance departments for site equipment (mobile and milling).
- Act as a resource for multiple mechanical engineers working across roles including projects, fixed equipment reliability and mobile equipment reliability engineering
- Develop budgets, schedules, and plans for key projects.
- Conduct thorough reviews of internally and externally developed drawings.
- Create and maintain engineering documents, including drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
- Provide field engineering support for maintenance projects.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate members of the Technical Services department.
- Support Technical Services and other engineering projects as needed.
- A degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or other related Engineering field.
- Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) in good standing.
- 5-7 years of mechanical project management experience in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge, experience and / or exposure in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:
- Steel fabrication techniques / methods.
- Computer-assisted drawing programs (SolidWorks).
- Basic understanding of structural engineering.
- Project management.
- Conducting field reviews in a complex industrial setting.
- Base metals mineral processing and associated milling/mining equipment.
- Good working knowledge of all MS office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess and maintain a valid Canadian driver's license.
- Williams Lake has a population of approximately 12,000 but services nearly 25,000 as it is a central hub for many outlying smaller communities
