We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Washington, D.C. This role is integral to the efficient operation of our facility, focusing on the safe and timely movement of goods. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing a variety of materials, operating essential warehouse equipment, and ensuring the accuracy of our inventory. We prioritize a safe and organized work environment, and we are looking for individuals committed to upholding these standards. Your duties will include loading and unloading shipments, transporting items within the warehouse, and assisting with inventory counts. Comprehensive training will be provided on all equipment operation and strict adherence to safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Understanding the flow of materials within a logistics network is key to success in this role. Employees must be physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including regular lifting of up to 50 lbs. We foster a collaborative team environment and value punctuality and reliability. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials and products.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Transport materials to and from various locations within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and carefully.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock checks.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and guidelines, including the use of PPE.
- Report any damages, discrepancies, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
- Support overall logistics and warehouse operational goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or a similar role is preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment is a significant advantage.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
