At Oviva, we’re on a mission to make sustainable, personalized, clinically effective care accessible to everyone. Our digital programmes support people living with weight related illnesses. While weight loss is a goal for many, our approach is about so much more: improving health, building confidence, and enhancing quality of life.

We’ve already supported over one million people across the UK, Switzerland, Germany, and Poland – and we’re just getting started. Every conversation, coaching session, and line of code brings us closer to a healthier future. Join us, and be part of the team making that future possible.
The role:
As an Engineering Lead at Oviva, you’ll combine deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration to drive the design, development, and continuous improvement of scalable systems. You'll act as a key technical partner across Engineering, Product, and Business Operations—turning complex problems into elegant software solutions that power clinical and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who enjoys leading by example, influencing architecture and delivery, and owning systems that make a real impact on healthcare outcomes. Your work will directly create tangible business value by leveraging technology to achieve measurable results. Our team embraces versatility, bending any technology required to deliver outcomes—whether that’s Salesforce, clinical software, ERP integrations, AI agents, or other tools—ensuring the right solution is applied to drive the business forward

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience in business operations, with a focus on process automation and scalability.

  • Strong backend engineering and software architecture background in Java/Kotlin, with the ability to design solutions that scale reliably while navigating complexity and ambiguity.

  • Broad technical versatility, comfortable working across multiple domains such as backend, data, cloud & DevOps.

  • Experience owning relationships with business stakeholders, shadowing users, and understanding their workflows to identify opportunities for impact

  • Comfortable pitching initiatives, articulating their value, and driving alignment across teams

  • Skilled in change management, guiding business users through transformation journeys with storytelling, influence, and clear communication

  • People leadership experience, having successfully led teams of at least 5–6 engineers, fostering both individual growth and collective success.

  • MS or BS in Computer Science

  • At least 4 years of experience managing engineering teams

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in healthcare, with exposure to regulated environments and patient-centric solutions.

  • Familiarity with OKR frameworks, with experience owning objectives and delivering measurable key results

  • Curiosity for innovation and AI, with a hands-on approach to experimenting with emerging tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, or similar).

Job Responsibilities
  • Leading people management responsibilities, including mentoring and coaching engineers, supporting career growth, and conducting talent calibration and performance reviews to ensure a high-performing and engaged team.

  • Managing and evolving large-scale, business-critical systems (e.g., Global Billing or Healthcare Professionals Scheduler), including their roadmap, scalability, and long-term reliability

  • Designing and reviewing technical solutions, presenting proposals through structured forums such as PRD or TDD reviews, and ensuring alignment with business and engineering goals

  • Embedding structure and engineering excellence within your team by driving incident management, robust technical design practices, and clear engineering metrics

  • Building and nurturing a strong engineering culture, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across your team
