Job Summary
Works directly with individual principals and school teams to ensure that schools create the structure, leadership, and culture necessary to accelerate all students and eliminate all gaps. Supports the Anne Arundel County Public Schools leadership pipeline by working with the Office of School Performance Team to ensure that all schools have effective leaders and leadership teams.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides direction, support, and resources to school leaders to create, implement, and monitor school improvement plans.
  • Collects and analyzes student, school, and district achievement data and systematize best practices to improve student performance.
  • Assists schools in establishing effective leadership teams to respond to student performance data.
  • Assists with the design and the implementation of collaborative planning in schools.
  • Assists with creating and implementing professional development opportunities to build leadership capacity in instructional leaders.
  • Presents oral and written progress reports to the Regional Assistant Superintendent as needed.
  • Serves as a grade-level specific facilitator of principal meetings and a liaison between other system offices such as Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Data, and Student Support Services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

  • Master's Degree in school leadership, school administration or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.

Experience

  • Five (5) years successful teaching experience, particularly with notable accomplishment required; and
  • Five (5) years experience in assessing student data, professional development, and improvement planning required; and
  • Seven (7) years management experience (i.e. principal, manager, or coordinator) particularly with notable accomplishment required.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Characteristics

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present to a variety of audiences (board members, senior management, school faculties, and parent/community groups).
  • Knowledge of current practices in eliminating the achievement gap, instructional pedagogy, assessment, building teacher capacity, leadership, and professional development delivery options.
  • Be committed to our work to accelerate all students and eliminate all gaps.
  • Employs technology in instruction and professional development such as document cameras, presenters, and SmartBoards, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations (students, parents, school system staff, and the community).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Administrator I Certificate issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred; or
  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Administrator II Certificate issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

Driving Requirements

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
