Purpose of Position

JOB SUMMARY

The job duties of the Technical Support Analyst include but are not limited to responding to Help Desk requests for the Chippewa County Information Technology Division and/or the DHS-RWC Division if assigned. This position will also configure, install, and support of personal computers throughout the County facilities; and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public.

This is an Annual LTE position (it is not seasonal)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties described below are indicative of what the Technical Support Analyst might be asked to perform. This job description is to incorporate any county ordinances created for the position of Technical Support Analyst. This is not an exhaustive list of job responsibilities and therefore other duties may be assigned:

Administrative Functions:

  • Provide initial response to Help Desk calls and requests, prioritizing and resolving problems independently, with guidance from other IT personnel as needed.
  • Assists with first level troubleshooting
  • Prioritizes requests and responds appropriately
  • Escalates difficult problems, as necessary, for assistance and guidance
  • Provides end-user assistance and training
  • Diagnose and resolve operational problems

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve user hardware and software problems

  • Perform or request hardware maintenance for computer and all attached equipment
  • Receive and coordinate the installation of software releases and enhancements for county computerized applications
  • Attend training, technical conferences, and seminars; reviews publications to keep current regarding new programming languages, syntax, products, procedures and best practices.
  • Provide on-call service for after-hours IT emergencies as part of a rotation.

DOA-IT Division specific tasks:

  • Configure, install, maintain, and support personal computer, peripherals and software applications.
  • Receive, unpack, and inspect equipment deliveries and maintains appropriate inventories
  • Perform initial hardware setup
  • Strictly adheres to system security operating standards.

Community Relations Functions:

  • Work cooperatively with the City of Chippewa falls, CINC, the State of Wisconsin, and other agencies for shared network and application services, maintenance, and future planning.

DHS-RWC Division specific tasks:

  • Maintain SharePoint site for RWC – creation of users, maintain individual site, troubleshoot questions.
  • Prepare and presents system design proposals to users and staff.
  • Test program control of and interaction with workstations, printers, servers, and other system components.
  • Develop reports and/or data exports to meet end user requirements.
  • Maintains skills and awareness of state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, problem solving techniques, development and project management methodologies, and information technology equipment.
  • Provide RWC employees training; includes training in existing applications AVATAR, SharePoint, Crystal Reports, and also new technologies upcoming. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Customers:

  • All Chippewa County and City of Chippewa Falls employees, managers and directors that the IT Division serves
  • RWC Consortium providers/suppliers

Team Members:

  • Employees of the IT Division and DOA
  • City of Chippewa Falls IT Liaison
  • RWC employees and members
Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Information Technology required.
  • One or more years of recent IT related work experience required.
  • Experience working in the public sector preferred.
  • A cell phone is required.
  • A valid driver's license required.
