Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our adult community. The ideal candidate will have experience in long-term care or within the developmentally disabled population with a strong focus on enhancing clients' quality of life through meaningful activities. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity in event planning, and a genuine passion for working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring memory care. The Activities Director will coordinate and lead a variety of programs tailored to clients' interests and needs, fostering an inclusive and vibrant community atmosphere.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop, organize, implement and lead and/or supervise a diverse calendar of recreational activities, including arts & crafts, games, outings, parties, dance, exercise, karaoke and special birthday and holiday events aligned with clients' interests and abilities.
- Coordinate therapeutic activities such as recreational therapy sessions focused on cognitive stimulation and physical engagement for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed to promote independence and well-being.
- Manage schedule planning for activities to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating individual preferences and health considerations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to tailor programs for client with specific needs related to aging issues, dementia care, or disabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and client feedback to continually improve program offerings.
- Document assessments, treatment plans and evaluations on an ongoing basis.
- Lead efforts in community outreach to foster strong relationships .
Qualifications
- Must possess the Activities Director certificate or credential (ADC) or CTRS
- Must be organized an adept at intakes as well as quarterly record keeping. Technology skills would be a plus.
- Proven experience in event planning within long-term care or developmentally disabled settings.
- Background in senior care, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care, developmentally disabled care or recreational therapy preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong understanding of caregiving principles related to the aging or developmentally disabled populations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate clients and collaborate effectively with staff and families.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting activities based on clients' changing needs.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and members of the developmentally disabled community through engaging programs. Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
