Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide high-quality patient care across various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and supporting medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The CNA will play a vital role in delivering safe, respectful, and effective care in environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately using medical documentation systems like EMR and EHR systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper medication handling following HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or behavioral health needs.
- Assist with catheter care, wound care, and aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
- Support patients during transfers and ambulation to promote safety and independence.
- Document patient observations meticulously and communicate changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment adhering to infection control protocols including infectious disease care standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, post-acute care, outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings.
- Engage in ongoing training related to medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and emergency procedures such as Basic Life Support.
Requirements
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including long-term care, hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), ICU, PICU, or hospice care preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques required.
- Ability to work effectively with patients across the lifespan including children in pediatric or NICU settings.
- Experience working with special populations such as those with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team-oriented environment.
- Physical ability to perform caregiving duties including lifting (e.g., Hoyer lift), standing for extended periods, and assisting with mobility tasks.
