Admissions Director – Residential Services (IDD & Behavioral Health)

We're seeking an Admissions Director to lead residential admissions for a rapidly growing IDD/behavioral health provider in New Jersey. This is a high-impact role where strong communication, Medicaid waiver knowledge, and polished relationship-building skills are essential.
With 36 new residential beds coming online in early 2026, this position offers the chance to shape how services expand across the state while ensuring every individual receives a thoughtful, person-centered admissions experience.
What You'll Do
As the Admissions Director, you will manage the full admissions process—from the first referral through placement—ensuring every step is timely, thorough, and aligned with the individual's needs.
You will:
- Oversee all residential admissions and act as the main point of contact for families, referral sources, guardians, and agencies
- Verify funding, review medical/behavioral histories, and assess acuity
- Conduct Bio-Psycho-Social assessments and gather all required documentation
- Present cases to clinical, medical, and operations teams for placement decisions
- Coordinate tours and communicate clearly with all stakeholders throughout the process
- Track census, prepare reporting, and maintain accurate documentation
- Support the state's residential expansion by identifying strong referral opportunities and building referral relationships within established guidelines

What You Need to Succeed
Required Strengths:
- Solid understanding of Medicaid waivers and funding pathways
- Comfort working with individuals with IDD, SMI, autism, or high-acuity needs
- Strong communication and presentation skills—able to share services clearly and effectively
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage high-volume referrals
- Ability to work cross-functionally with clinical, medical, and operations teams
Preferred Backgrounds:
- Experience in IDD, behavioral health, mental health, or related human services
- Experience as a program director, residential manager, admissions professional, or behavioral health operator
- Clinical credentials not required
Compensation
- Base Salary: $75,000–$80,000
- Quarterly Bonus: Up to 20% annually, based on admissions goals and new program development
