Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Provide assistance with instrumental ADLs (IADLs), such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and resident room organization.
- Support residents with medication reminders according to facility policy (no medication administration unless specifically permitted under Colorado regulations and facility training).
- Promote resident independence, dignity, privacy, and choice while delivering person-centered care.
- Observe and report changes in residents' physical, cognitive, or emotional condition to the supervisor or nurse on duty.
- Assist residents with safe transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, following facility procedures and state guidelines.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to resident requests, concerns, and needs.
- Uphold infection control practices and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in emergency procedures and trainings as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and families to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Minimum age and training requirements as defined by Colorado assisted living regulations (typically 18 years old).
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 35–50 lbs, repositioning residents, and prolonged standing/walking.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when working with older adults.
- Successful completion of facility-provided Personal Care Provider training per Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) guidelines.
