Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Provide assistance with instrumental ADLs (IADLs), such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and resident room organization.
• Support residents with medication reminders according to facility policy (no medication administration unless specifically permitted under Colorado regulations and facility training).
• Promote resident independence, dignity, privacy, and choice while delivering person-centered care.
• Observe and report changes in residents' physical, cognitive, or emotional condition to the supervisor or nurse on duty.
• Assist residents with safe transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, following facility procedures and state guidelines.
• Respond promptly and respectfully to resident requests, concerns, and needs.
• Uphold infection control practices and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Participate in emergency procedures and trainings as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and families to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum age and training requirements as defined by Colorado assisted living regulations (typically 18 years old).
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 35–50 lbs, repositioning residents, and prolonged standing/walking.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when working with older adults.
• Successful completion of facility-provided Personal Care Provider training per Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) guidelines.
