About The Role
The Machine Learning Manager for PF&O (Recommendations & Forecasting) at Reddit is a strategic leadership position responsible for guiding the development of advanced ML systems that enhance advertising and sales tools. This role involves defining the technical vision and long-term roadmap for the Auto-Bidding team, overseeing the design and optimization of recommendation and forecasting systems, and ensuring these products meet high standards of accuracy, reliability, and performance. The manager will lead a talented engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, while working closely with cross-functional partners such as product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams. The role offers an opportunity to leverage AI, ML, and Reddit's unique community insights to revolutionize the advertiser experience and drive significant business impact.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing engineering teams, preferably in machine learning or related technical domains
• Proven track record in building and operating large-scale advertising or marketplace systems
• Hands-on expertise with real-time serving systems, model development, and optimization pipelines
• Strong understanding of control systems, algorithms, and bidding/marketplace optimization techniques
• Experience designing bidding algorithms and conducting A/B testing for business impact
• Deep knowledge of experimentation methodologies, metric design, and large-scale data analysis
• Expertise in scalable system architecture, high-performance serving architectures, and real-time data pipelines
• Familiarity with ads delivery, recommendations, targeting, or marketplace optimization systems
• Strategic thinking with the ability to define and execute a clear technical vision
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills, capable of translating complex technical ideas for broad audiences
• Preferred: experience with real-time ML model serving, reinforcement learning, and bidding algorithms

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for the Auto-Bidding team, aligning with broader business goals
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of recommendation and forecasting systems to ensure high accuracy and reliability
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering professional growth and a collaborative team culture
• Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with product KPIs and user needs
• Champion best practices in model quality, experimentation, system reliability, and operational excellence
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering velocity, reduce operational costs, and enhance system performance
• Drive innovation in AI and ML applications to improve advertiser tools and user experiences
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders
• Ensure the scalability and robustness of systems supporting large-scale advertising operations
